Networking is an important game to play to increase company viability and the
same time learn new market tips or find good employees.
It is a good idea to have a sort of "elevator pitch" planed out so
that at any event you can be prepared to answer questions in a way that that
puts you business in a good light. Then try to turn the discussion to asking
questions of the other people in the gathering. Make sure that you are
up to date about the subject so that you have an opinion to discuss. It
is very important to make a good first impression and it is easier to do so when
you are knowledgeable about the topic. Although you want to find out the
most about every business as possible, it is important to not have come across
as pressing them for info. You need to carefully craft your questions to
have you come across as sincere. Finally, after the discussion is over,
give them your business card and try to schedule a date when you will meet again.
Good locations for gathering with and networking include: Social gatherings,
business conferences/other gatherings, trade shows, professional organizations,
and final neighborhood and dinner parties. These are fairly fun events
and you should try to attend every one you can.
Finally once you have gone to a networking occasion, be sure to keep in touch
with the people you have met. Call them in person and thank them for the
good discussion that you had with them, then try to make more definite planes.
It is also important to not constantly use them without providing benefits in
return. The more time and energy you invest in an individual, the more
to are likely to get in return.
