Some Thoughts on Creating Effective Enterprise Pitches
Types of pitches • Funders - Investors or Donors • Perspective Partners, Board Members, Employees • Sales
Pitch Format • 10 slides • 20 minutes for your slides and pitch • Font must be big enough to see easily and not to much text on each slide • Keep slides simple, no fancy animations, dark back ground light color text • Pitch should not start with you, if the people being pitched to what to know, they’ll ask
Research For Your Pitch • Know your Audience - The organization’s back ground that you are pitching to - Who works there, What is their back ground - What is the organization currently working on, what direction is it going - Ask who ever invited you to do the pitch what are the most interesting things about your enterprise that they would like to know about, are there issues or land mines that you should know about
What Your Pitch Should Do • Get potential funders excited about your enterprise • Clearly state what your enterprise does • The problem that it solves • How it solves the problem • How your enterprise is better than the competition • Get the funding organization that you pitched to invite you back for more discussion
What the Pitch Should Include (For Pitches to Potential Funders) • Your enterprise name, your name & contact info • Description of the problem or need • How you will solve it and/or fill the need • Your Business or operating model: How you will make money, how will you be paid, your distribution, etc. • What makes your product or service special and valuable, what is better about it • How will you reach your market • What your competition is • Your enterprise management team • Finical projections for 3 to 5 years; Expenses and income • Current status, what the near future looks like, how you will use the money that you raise |
